We understand the benefits that come with having guest lectures, especially for our students. At Demont, there are an overwhelming number of opportunities for students to learn from prominent individuals across a variety of fields. The session by Dr. Maiss Ahmad on ‘Are leaders born or made?’ proved just that.
Leaders are emerging by developing their inner skills, whether managing a growing business or a big corporation. Numerous studies have demonstrated that people can be developed into leaders. If this is the case, then anyone can choose to become a leader. Qualities of a good leader include self-awareness, relationship building, constant & consistent, empowering others, and many more.
Different examples were discussed about the leadership qualities possessed by successful leaders at present. Such as Jack Ma, founder of Ali Baba who does not believe in getting involved in the day-to-day decision-making of the employees. He prefers to stay away from the micromanagement scheme. He always pushes his employee to grow well in their own creativity. One learner mentioned the leadership quality possessed by Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, prime Minister of UAE, like self-confidence and innovation. He strongly believes in, “Leadership is the capacity to translate vision into reality.”
To conclude the session, it was mentioned that leaders may have innate personality traits and intellectual propensities that give them the potential to lead effectively. Leadership can be developed with the help of hard work and all the necessary qualities required to become a successful leader. You can be a good leader with a strong desire and willpower. The learners also shared their viewpoints in the form of small group discussions. The knowledge given by Dr. Maiss Ahmad will be fruitful for our learners and they will implement the same in their learning journey with us.
